Welcome friends, compadres and those who are internet-lost actually looking for pornography – hello to you all. For the latter, I think the link you were looking for is youporn.com/wickedwitchofthepuss. Today marks two very special occasions: firstly, it is the penultimate day of Octeaber and I cannot believe that this crazy, exhausting but utterly exhilarating month is nearly over. Although, I am looking forward to blood rather than tea coursing through my caffeine clogged arteries that have taken a bat-tea-ring over the last 30 days.
Secondly, today I WAS IN A DOUBLE PAGE FEATURE IN THE STAR! When The Star rang me up I was initially concerned that when they said ‘spread’ they meant my legs, getting my espresso mugs out and accompanying said tastefully shot picture with some completely superfluous text on my hobbies, occupation and critique of the current UK political climate (who genuinely reads that on Page 3? There are usually two more interesting things that one could examine). Anyway, turns out it wasn’t THAT Star, it was critically acclaimed, internationally read and bible of all that is good and holy…The Sheffield Star. Yes, 30th October, 2015 will go down in history as The Tea Witch’s transition from Z list to Q list local celebri-tea.
So now I have risen up the ranks to the same echelons of H from Steps and that bloke off the Go Compare advert, I have employed staff to do my blog for me this evening. But these aren’t your frustratingly incompetent work experience fools kind of staff who accidentally lock themselves in the stock room and staple their hands to the desk. No, these are two pretty awesome bloggers who are on my internet bookmark list next to Tesco home delivery, Christinahendricks.com and Urban Dictionary. Say ‘ey up’ to the fabulous Siobhan, the legend behind the Rock & Roses blog on all things fashion and lifestyle, and who has been to every single one of my Octeaber events so far – copious cuppas for you my dear! Also say ‘watcha cock’ to the incredible Nichole from the amazing blog CuppaGeek, which is a minefield of tea reviews if you are looking to spice up your collection. Put yer feet up, get kettle on and enjoy some Friday night girl on girl confession action.
S’up Brew: What tea was your ‘tea awakening’ and led you to take the humble brew more seriously?
Rock & Roses: Peppermint green tea! Never being the biggest fan of tea in general, I avoided green tea like the plague. I mean, it has the word green in it! You know how when you was a kid and wouldn’t even give broccoli and peas the time of day because they were green? Well, yea, this was an adult version of that! Then somebody told me how green tea can help with weight loss in the sense that it helps with your metabolism, so I decided to give it a shot. Peppermint green tea sounded like the least gross of all the green teas, so I gave it a shot, and I haven’t looked back since!
CuppaGeek: Pancake Breakfast from 52Teas (the original owner). I had never had a tea with such a unique flavor before. I didn’t realize teas even came in those kind of flavors.
Move Oolong: What was the most disappointing tea you have tried and why?
Rock & Roses: Any form of Twinings Fruit Tea. It’s not just disappointing. It’s poison. My tastebuds have never been so offended! I was on a training course with work in some fancy hotel in Sheffield, so obviously Twinings Tea was all that was on offer, in all kinds of variations in a fancy wooden box. Not being overly fussed on breakfast tea, I thought I’d branch out and try me some fruit tea. I mean, what could possibly go wrong? I like fruit. I like fruit flavoured things. This was a fruit flavoured thing…just hot. I felt like I’d taken a gulp of my favourite perfume. It made my eyes water it was that horrible. I was in a fancy hotel though surrounded by fancy people. I couldn’t just spit it out again, so I endured the entire thing. Never again.
CuppaGeek: Yumberry Wulong Oolong, from Teavana. I had heard wonderful things about this tea but I could barely take down my first sip. This tea was just not for me at all.
Hospitali-tea: What tea would you rustle up if someone popped round unexpectedly and why?
Rock & Roses: Well seen as I’ve been gifted every type of Yorkshire Tea going after attending lots of events this year based in Yorkshire and I have about five boxes of the bloody stuff, I guess they’ll be having Yorkshire Tea! Did you know there was such thing as Yorkshire Tea Gold?! I didn’t! What is even the difference!?
CuppaGeek: If its during the fall time of year, I always brew up M&K’s Pumpkin Patch Spice. This is a green rooibos butternut squash/pumpkin blend. So rich and creamy like a pumpkin pie without the heavy artificial cinnamon flavors you can sometimes come across. I just served this at my bridal shower last week and it was a huge hit!
Sexual Tea-ling: What tea would you use to impress someone & get them in the mood?!
Rock & Roses: I have a nice box of Yorkshire Tea Gold that might just get you going???
CuppaGeek: 3/7/2015 Devotion– This tea is a rich orange chocolate cinnamon and vanilla spiced tea that gives you that lush chocolate with a bit of spice in it. Perks up your taste buds for sure!
Infini-tea & Beyond: You are on death row for unspeakable brew-related crimes (I’ve seen your violent teabagging!). What would be your ‘last brew’ selection?
Rock & Roses: If I’m on death row, there’s not a chance my final drink would be a cup of tea. Pass me ALL of the gin! If I’m going out, it may as well be in style…and drunk.
CuppaGeek: Oh dang. This is hard. Any tea from Wendigo Tea Company. I have to say they are my favorite. I have lots of tea shops that I adore and love, but Sky’s teas are the ones I constantly go back to on a daily basis. They never let me down. BigFoot is an amazing black tea while Nessy Tea is one of the best Jasmine Pearl teas I’ve ever had. It would have to be one of them.
